Where to Find Office Space in the UK

With greater numbers of people setting up there own business in the UK, the need for office space has never been in such great demand. There are companies who rent out entire offices, in addition to individuals which simply need a few desks in one office. Moreover, supply of this office space is not an issue for most who are seeking it. This is due to the fact that each year, more and more new office buildings are constructed in the UK, even though the pace may have slowed in recent months.
In the large cities, particularly London, these offices are being rented out before they are even complete. This is especially true in the City of London and other prestigious locations. This pre-selling of space is typical of the UK commercial property market. This allows the proprietors of the buildings to do build the offices in a custom or bespoke manner that suits the type of tenants who will be residing in them once completed.
So, the question arises, where do you look for office space? If you prefer traditional methods of advertising you could first try the local newspaper for classified ads, like the London Evening Standard. Locating in a larger town or City increases your options on where to locate. Just one floor or floors is easier to arrange than if you are looking for an entire building to lease. However this is not impossible considering the aforementioned new building construction activity in the UK at present.
If the newspaper does not yield satisfactory results try looking at local corporate business parks. Some of these are bound to have some empty office space. They often consist of a range of buildings, and so you will more than likely be presented with a choice of where you could go. The UK is a buyers market so you have considerable leverage when negotiating leases, facilities, location and size.
Last but by no means least the internet can is of course a perfect place to search for office space. Google the term “office space” with your preferred location and you will be presented will a plethora of brokers, providers and directories. The market is buoyant and there are plenty of companies willing to offer their services!
Office space is no longer a difficult commodity to acquire. Many providers of serviced office space have very flexible leasing terms that allow you to rent by the day or by the week. The main point of discussion should be where you should relocate to. The key is to not rush the decision, bide your time until you find somewhere you can afford and that is suitable for your business. Office spaces, even entire buildings are available in plentiful supply in the UK.
