The Co-Operative Group build new HQ in Manchester
May 20th, 2008 | by Adam Lucking |The Co-operative Group has decided they will build their new headquarters in Manchester city centre. Currently the Co-operative group employs 3,000 people in the existing site on Corporation Street.
They have not decided on which city centre site to relocate to due in part to sensitive commercial negotiations.
Chief executive of The Co-operative Group, Peter Mark, said the decision to relocate from its existing head office was because of the rising maintenance costs in the dated office building. There was also a need to provide a first class working environment for staff.
The decision to stay in the city centre was because of the transport links and environment and commercial benefits.
Work is already underway to redevelop the 20 acre existing site known as the Northern Gateway.
