The 5 things to take to your first day at a serviced office

office spaceSo, you signed up for a Office space serviced office serviced officesserviced office and its the first day at your new home for the next six months at least.  What do you take with you?

Computer

Whether it is a laptop or you are going for a desktop solution, this machine will be your best friend in the office for a while unless you are taking other people with you.  Ensure that your computer is running effectively so that you can get going very quickly and are not held back by your processor.  Your first few weeks in your office space should prove to be highly productive, but with a slow computer holding you back, it could be frustrating.

Stationery

Make sure that you have your letter headed paper, pens, pencils notepads, and the all-important stapler at hand to help you to do the work away from your computer.  In most business centres you will find the odd stapler hanging around, but nothing beats using your own instrument on the desk.

Paperwork

Its inevitable that as soon as you start you will be asked for your new address by clients, suppliers and more, so it would be a good idea to take existing business documents, including your VAT number, company number and so on, so it is all at hand if anyone should ask.  You may be changing your business address over in the first few days to your new business centre, so it will be useful for this purpose also

How can you forget your little darlin’s?  Because of the ’samey’ nature of serviced offices, having your own creature comforts there will help to avoid the monotony of offices as you walk past them.  Some of the most energetic serviced offices that I have seen on my travels up and down the country have been offices that are full of family pictures, plants and more.

Business cards (lots)

If you are any kind of business person, you will be talking about your company in that way you do every time you meet anyone around the building.  As you speak to them, and especially if you are a B2B company, hand over your card with the hint of a discount.  I have seen many good business relationships being struck-up over a coffee in a serviced office kitchen.
