Teleconference protocol
August 5th, 2008 | by Adam LuckingIf you are joining a teleconference then there are a few things to consider that will benefit yourself and others. Below is a list created by Choregus to help reinforce standard teleconference protocol.
Don’t turn up late
Turning up late is bad and you will struggle to catch up on the discussion and will hold up the meeting while the meeting host has to introduce you delaying the meeting in the process.
Don’t lose focus
Always concentrate on the teleconference fully and don’t try reading emails, shopping online or writing an agenda for another meeting, and certainly don’t play games online.
Do not disturb
Always make sure your colleagues know you are not to be disturbed. Do not take calls or answer questions from employees.
Turn off features
Turn off call waiting features on the phone you use as this will interfere with the teleconference.
Introduce yourself
Do not speak without saying your name so people know who is speaking
Ask individual questions
Do not address questions to the group. It is best to target an individual and you will get a quicker response.
Stay calm
Do not respond with sarcasm or in anger to comments made by others
Teleconference facilities can bring people together who can’t all be in the same room or may be working virtually. Serviced office space providers have this technology available to support your business and help maximise productivity and cut costs.
