UBC Manchester, the flagship conference and meetings venue of the United Business Centres network, is to host a meeting of the North West branch of the Society of Editors to review the Mediacity:UK development in Salford Quays and its impact on the media industry in the region.  Mediacity:UK is a development aimed at attracting media businesses to locate within the district and has already secured a move from the BBC.

The meeting, chaired by Richard Catlow of MEN Weekly Newspapers, invites Salford Urban Regeneration Company chair Felicity Goody to address the Society and discuss plans for the new site.  The event will take place in UBC Manchester’s conference suite which overlooks the Mediacity:UK, currently under construction in Salford Quays.

Richard Catlow commented: “We wanted somewhere convenient for regional editors to gather.  The location of UBC Manchester, which actually overlooks the Mediacity:UK, seemed extremely apt and provides us with a comfortable, modern facility with everything we need on hand.”

Jane Erasmus, Centre Manager at UBC Manchester, added: “We are delighted that the Society of Editors has chosen UBC as the venue for such an important discussion.  The new development will have a huge impact on many local businesses in Salford and Manchester, in particular regional media organisations.”

UBC Manchester is located within the Digital World Centre in Salford Quays, close to the Lowry Museum.  The centre caters for all types of meeting with a range of facilities, from interview rooms to board rooms and a 100 seater tiered auditorium, complemented by 6,500 sq ft of exhibition space.  Situated less than two miles from Manchester City Centre and 20 minutes from Manchester International airport, UBC Manchester benefits from excellent road, rail and tram links from Salford Quays, providing easy access to both North and South as well as the busine
