Serviced office space organisations and the future

December 19th, 2007 | by Mike Sullivan

In my last post I talked about the low awareness of the office suite industry in the US (and globally), and how diffucult – with the fragmented makeup of the industry – any mass educational campaigns are. The natural solutions to this problem are industry organizations or alliances that allow collaboration among operators to pool resources and market the industry together. The obvious challenge to this is bringing hundreds (or thousands) of fragmented operators together to agree on funding and direction. Two global organisations that are striving to do this (and much more) are the Office Business Center Association International (OBCAI) and Alliance Business Center Network (ABCN).

These two groups are doing a great job moving the industry forward. Each has a clear mission and solid leadership, but both have unique challenges in moving to the level necessary for educating prospects on the benefits of the office suite industry. It will be interesting to see how these two organizations evolve over the next several years, how they serve operators, and how they promote the industry.
