Serviced office space landscape map

Following on from the controversial (for some - Ed.) office space tube map last from last week, I have this week tried to represent some highlights of the serviced office industry via an isometric 3D landscape.

Serviced office space landscape

The image is a representation of the industry from my own perspective that I thought I would share with the readers of our news site.  Following criticism from certain quarters previously regarding particular sites on and not on the tube map, I took a look at myself to ensure that this image was also a fair representation of Choregus’ view of the state of play in the market.

For example, Regus, of course the daddies of the industry, are represented by the extremely large building to the top of the image, which shows the impact and status that they fully deserve.  For the critics, Regus do not advertise on our site.

Because of the size of the online presence and the impact that they have had on the market, Office Broker are shown as the largest building in the Broker district of the city.

At the top-right of the image, the classified ad and affiliate sites are shown as drivers of leads to office brokers and serviced office companies.  You will also notice that the BCA are represented as a close allay to the industry as a whole.

We all know that this is nothing more than a novel way to look at the serviced office space industry in the UK, but I hope that it is something extra for people from inside and outside of the industry that gives a little bit more knowledge so that the industry as a whole can benefit.  Increased knowledge of each part of the industry will ultimately prove to build the industry in a way that is driven by the consumer.

Serviced office space insiders with an eye for the future will agree that if consumers know more about the industry, this will help it to organically grow AROUND those same consumers, becoming a solid, fulfilling product set that becomes a crucial part of the business landscape for the SME and big business market.

If only Fred Dibnah was still around to work in the serviced office industry. He’d soon shake up some of the larger blocks on your map.

Is the hollow Regus building symbolic? A huge brand image, but not much substance behind it… Or is my imagination running away with me…?

Would be interesting to see Choregus’ take on how the wider business community sees the industry. I’d suspect a rather blurred and distant picture. With the economy as it is (or as it is going?) surely the industry as a whole needs to work on adding clarity to this image rather than just the brands within it.

In my mind there are two groups that have the potential to do that - Regus or the BCA (and its members).

But while we’re all talking about how we’re in a perfect position to offer flexible accommodation in the current economy, why are neither of them standing up to shout about it outside of our industry walls?

What an excellent comment regarding using the position to shout about the industry as SME’s are now looking for help as they are being constantly informed that we are going to be in recession.

Is the Regus building hollow for a reason? Only because they can afford to build a building with a cool area in the middle, thats all :)
