A potential serviced office boom?

May 12th, 2008 | by James Jones |

small business personA potential serviced office boom could be on the cards after over 10m UK workers said that they would like to start their own business, with 20pc wanting to do it before 2009.

The Business Link survey found many things that we already know, lots of people want to be their own boss and spend more time with the family.  Leaving the nine to five, it seems, is ever more on the agenda for lots of people.

There are several options open to people including franchising, but for most, getting their own office space and allowing themselves to run the business how they want to is a dream come true.

This, of course, should it happen, have a great effect on the serviced office market.  Because of the easy way to get sat down and working in some cases, less than 24 hours, it could be the thing that sparks two flames - a small business boom and the thing that finally pulls the serviced office in to the mainstream.

This is exactly the kind of thing needed to inject impetus in to the serviced office market at the moment, after way too many stories about the credit crunch and potential vacancy rates in the UK.  It will be interesting to see how companies like Regus and MWB makes moves to catch these businesses before the get away.
