Pay as you go hot desking
October 3rd, 2008 | by Adam LuckingVirtual office setups are not really suited to all people. Some of us don’t like to be fixed to a particular address and some of us prefer to work from more than one location. In this scenario it is best to look at hot desking. How can you do this? Simple, buy registering with a serviced office provider it is possible to have access to a fantastic network of high quality business centres at prime city locations in the
UK.
Many business centres work by charging a one off fee that allows you access to business centres and their facilities. Most will even give you a card that allows you a certain amount of hours. When you use the card the receptionist will stamp your card, then when you need more hours simply put more credit on. It couldn’t be simpler.
So what exactly do you get then? Well you will have access to a workstation with high speed internet and phone access. There are a plethora of services to use on a pay as you go basis. You can make use of the administration staff to help with any admin tasks such as photocopying. There is also access to meeting rooms, catering and courier services.
What do you prefer, virtual offices or hot desking?

To answer your question, Adam, personally, virtual offices as i dont really need to share space with others. I just need my desk at home.

Ok if the tasks for the day can be completed at your home office. Hot desking is useful for people on the move who need to meet clients and do not want to blur home and work (do you want your suppliers/client to know how/where you live?)it also provides the opportunity to network and can provide the feeling of being in a professional working environment rather than being cramped up in the spare room. Why do people pay to sit in a cafe when they could brew up at home? because we are social creatures.
