Office walls made of plants not plaster?

November 29th, 2007 | by Simon Rattray

A new business centre in Rotherham will use plants to insulate its walls.

It is being assembled by the Rotherham Investment & Development Office in conjunction with the Rotherham Construction Partnership.

The walls will effectively be living and will be created using a combination of climbing plants, steel and trellises.

This idea has been quite common in Europe but has not been trialled in the Office space UK serviced officesUK before. The building will be environmentally friendly as the design will prevent energy loss while rain water can be collected.

The project in due to open in April 2008.
