Office Space Film Review

If you have ever worked in an office, then this film will certainly have an air of familiarity for you.
The traffic on the way to work, the computer, the photocopier, the boss and pretty much every other annoying thing about working in an office.
Ron Livingston plays the bored, discontent employee who trys to do as little as possible whilst still getting paid, whilst Milton, played by Stephen Root is astoundingly funny having been made redundant years ago, no one actually bothered to tell him and as there was a glitch in the payroll system, he still manages to get paid. Throughout the film Miltons situation gets gradually worse and worse pushing him to the very outskirts of sanity.

Livingston, hating his job so much decides to try his hand at hypnotherapy to try and forget his days at work. Its only when his hypnotherapist dies that he can see how good a life of nothing can be. With redundancies threatening Livingston hatches a plot to embezzle money from the company and eventually lead to a lifestyle unlike the boring, dull office.
The films director Mike Judge is the man who brought us Beavis and Butt-Head and it shows as some of the jokes are simply brilliant. Even though the film is not set in a documentary format, there is no doubt that this must have inspired Ricky Gervais’ The Office. Sadly Office Space was not a hit at first and as such went straight to DVD. However as word got about it became more popular than ever and grew into one of the best comedies ever.
One scene to look out for involves a field, a baseball bat and a temperamental printer. Simply fantastic.
