Office space for Diners Club members
June 30th, 2008 | by Simon Rattray
Regus have announced that it has signed an agreement with Diners Club International for its members to use office space across the Regus network.
Hopefully not too long before it hits the UK - the scheme is initially being deployed in Australia followed by India.
Filippo Sarti CEO for Asia-Pacific, has said “We are pleased to be working with Diners Club International on this exciting venture which will enable readers to provide cardholders with the ability to work productively wherever, whenever and however they need”.
As Diners Club International user myself, it will be extremely useful to be able to use any Regus centre throughout the world on and my travels. It seems as though this will really appeal to a certain section of the business community.
This is great news for Regus’s blue chip clients but we feel again it’s something that has been mentioned in the press that doesn’t fully benefit the SME clients that Regus so well looks after.
We look forward to the day when Regus releases a press release that really benefits the SME community in the UK.
Again, great deal Regus, but what have you got up your sleeve for the small guy?
Choregus highly recommends our UK offices list, Hammersmith office space, Mayfair office space, Soho office space and Birmingham office space to rent.

What a great question! Now here is the answer!
Announcing Business World by Regus!
The Regus Group has unveiled its new Businessworld Membership Card program, a tiered offering that allows mobile workers to choose from varying levels of access to professional day offices, business lounges and cafés in any of Regus’ 950 business centers worldwide.
The company based the program on feedback from its customers regarding privacy issues. It includes a range of business services, allowing mobile professionals to print documents, check e-mails, or hold a meeting in a private, secure environment.
“Working on the road presents numerous challenges, but, just as technology has caught up to the mobile worker, so have today’s mobile workplace options,” Guillermo Rotman, CEO of The Regus Group Americas, said in a statement.

Without wanting to be too critical, ‘Businessworld Membership’ does just seem to be a re-working of previous Regus promotions.
Is another ‘world’ offering really aimed at the small guy?
They are in an enviable position in the UK with a great range of facilities and a substantial marketing budget, but when it comes to small businesses they just don’t seem to make the most of the potential. Great for the rest of us, but not really what you’d expect from an industry ‘leader’.

I can only speak to my experience here. In my town, we have 12 Regus locations, with the one I manage being downtown.
Many of my smaller clients don’t need a full time office as they work from home. Their clients are scattered all around the city and it is a benefit they cherish to be able to go to any center to have a meeting.
Business World very much has these small business owners in mind - allowing flexibility of offices and meeting rooms without having to commit to a full time office in one location.

A fair comment, but I think your comments only serve to emphasise my point.
Your clients are using a local network rather than a ‘world’ service. I have to admit I have no knowledge of how Regus work, but perhaps local networks of centres (eg the 12 in your town) could be empowered to create a ‘BusinessLocal Membership’, rather than ‘BusinessWorld’, which would be more relevant, better targeted, and put them more in touch with the ’small guy’.
