Making virtual teams a success
July 31st, 2008 | by Adam LuckingVirtual working practices are rapidly growing in popularity but how can you make it successful? Choregus has given some tips below.
Work practices
The best way to make sure people work together well is to give some formal training. All the staff are shown the same working practices and this could be given as a face to face session or online via video conferencing facilities. Training people as a group makes people more at ease when policing each other on virtual practices.
Collaboration tools
It is important that people are trained on how to use business tools otherwise they don’t get used or they are not used to their full capacity. It is essential to train virtual staff on using MSN, Skype, online white boards, shared calendars and customer databases.
Contact list
All staff need some form of access to a full list of contacts so that they can have access to everyone in the team. It is essential to make sure that any changes to the list viewable to others.
Group meetings
As virtual employees are by the very meaning virtual they can sometimes feel isolated so regular meetings are a must. The best way to hold a meeting is using a meeting room within a serviced office environment. Meetings really do help build relationships and company loyalty.
