Do £175pm serviced offices in Manchester exist?

August 18th, 2008 | by James Welch

Recently, there has been much speculation about the myth of serviced offices in Manchester being available for only £175 per month from Your Space.

Before you read any further, let me just say they are very real and they are VERY good indeed.

Many small businesses, when told, firmly don’t believe it and some in the industry, and especially around the Office space Manchester serviced officesManchester area, suggest that there are hidden extras to pay for, suggesting that the £175 is a stunt, or means that a lower service-level is given.

This sounded like sour grapes to me, so I set off to investigate.

I traveled to the offices in Brown Street which is very close to the city centre after a short walk from Piccadilly train station.  There seemed to be plenty going on in the streets around the office building and there were lots of office workers traveling to and from offices and coffee shops.

The offices are located on the corner of the street as you can see from the video above and everything seems normal so far.  A nice, clean entrance and as I walk in, I see a professional-looking reception area with sofas to sit down on whilst I am waiting to see Chris Johnston, who is going to show me around the building.

As we walk around the building, it looks like 95% of Office space serviced office serviced officesserviced office buildings that you will see around the Office space UK serviced officesUK.  Nice, simple decor, pictures on the walls, clean and tidy.  Its just the same as any other serviced office that I have seen in the past year or so.  There are no signs of cost-cutting at all.

As you can see from the video above, the offices - the exact same offices that are priced in the £175pm bracket - are very smart indeed.  Again, they are like most office space that you will have ever seen and there is not much at all to differentiate them from similar offices in Manchester that cost 3 or 4 times as much.

Meeting areas are also of very high quality, and the addition of private underground parking - the largest in Manchester city centre - it makes for a brilliant location.

Add to the mix the not-so-small measure of FREE phone calls and FREE virtual services from the same location, it becomes more and more the most desirable place to work from in Manchester for small businesses.

So where do the myths come from?  Well, for a start, I can see that some serviced office providers may feel under-threat from this office building.  There is seemingly no reason - to them - for these offices to give the same level of service (and arguably better because of the free phone calls).  I can see why and how they may suggest that there is less of a service.  This is SIMPLY not the case.  There is, in no way whatsoever, a lower level of service at this centre.

So, what was the outcome of my findings from visiting the centre?  Its certainly the most cost-effective way to get serviced office space in the centre of Manchester at the moment.  The free phone calls are an added bonus too, as is the location and close proximity to many amenities.

Is there anything that I can say that is less gushing than that above? Well, no, to be honest.  It was just like any other office space that I have seen up and down the country, but with a much-reduced cost and free phone calls.

Do not get this reviewer wrong - its just your everyday serviced office space - but at vastly reduced costs.

Oh, and its very real indeed.
