10 great reasons NOT to use a Serviced Office
August 11th, 2008 | by Simon RattrayIf you like being overwhelmed with maintenance contracts, insurance declarations and utility bills then you will love our list of 10 reasons not to use a serviced office…
- You have fun recruiting reception staff, checking their credentials and asking them why they like to answer the phone for 8 hours a day whilst painting their nails.
- You like nothing more than finding a company to fix the photo copier - and then signing a contract for future breakdowns.
- You take pleasure in assembling a tender document for your office to be cleaned each day.
- You like bills to arrive periodically throughout each month from energy to window cleaning.
- You don’t mind paying for a five year lease when you might need to move in three.
- You like total inflexibility when it comes to how much office space you require.
- Your staff really enjoy cleaning the kitchen before they go home.
- You don’t mind paying rent for meeting room space you use once every four weeks.
- You’re not interested in networking events with other local businesses.
- You think its ok for security staff to take a night off and leave the building unattended.
We hope that you have enjoyed our list of reasons to not use a serviced office. Why would you when you have all of those exciting things above to help you keep you busy.
Why on earth would you want to spend your time building your business when you have this lot to do? I think Regus, MWB, Avanta, MLS, Abbey, TargetSpace, United Business Centres and the others are wasting their time with this serviced office lark. I mean, in what way do they help you as a business?

Can I also add:
- You enjoy filling in risk assessment forms so you can climb ladders to change lightbulbs.
Forget flexible terms and all the rest, that’s a real bonus with being in serviced offices!
